The Best Homemade Cinnamon Roll Recipe
(Please read through the recipe before beginning.)

Ingredients:
For the Dough:
1 - (.25 ounce) package dry yeast
1 cup warm milk
1⁄2 cup granulated sugar
1⁄3 cup margarine
1 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
4 cups flour

For the Filling:
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 and 1⁄2 Tablespoons cinnamon
1⁄3 cup softened butter or margarine

For the Icing:
8 Tablespoons margarine
1 and 1⁄2 cups powdered sugar
1⁄4 cup cream cheese
1⁄2 teaspoon vanilla
1⁄8 teaspoon salt

Directions:
For the Rolls:
In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in the warm milk.
Add the sugar, margarine, salt, eggs, and flour.  Mix well.
Lightly dust your hands with flour and knead the dough into a large ball.

Place the dough in a clean bowl.
Cover and allow to rise in a warm place about 1 hour or until the dough has doubled in size.

Once risen, roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface until it is approx 21 inches long by 16 inches wide. and approx 1/4 thick.

To Make Filling:
In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and cinnamon.

To Assemble:
For the Rolls:
Spread the softened margarine over the surface of the dough.
Sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon evenly over the buttered surface.
From the long edge, carefully roll the dough down to the bottom edge.
Cut the dough into about 1 and 3/4 inch slices.
Place in a lightly greased baking pan.
Let settle for about 20-30 minutes.

Place on a shallow cookie sheet, about 1 inch apart.
Be sure they do not touch, to ensure even baking.

Preheat oven to about 390 degrees F.

Bake for 10-12 minutes or until light golden brown.
(Aluminum foil may need placed on outsideedges to prevent over-browning during the last couple of minutes baking.)

While the rolls are baking begin making the icing.

For the Icing:
Combine the icing ingredients in a medium bowl.
Beat well with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.

Allow rolls to cool slightly before icing.


For an alternate quick and simple icing recipe:
2 cups confectioners' sugar
2 Tablespoons butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 Tablespoon milk 
(orange juice will work too!)

Simply whip all lingredients together until light and fluffy.
Spread onto warm rolls.
